<image:title>About</image:title>
<image:caption>I am excited about the prospect of collaborating with experts in my field and to provide my skills and ideas to interesting design projects. I am a multidisciplinary designer and brand developer from Miami, majoring in communication design at the Parsons School of Design (NYC). I strive to develop unique and engaging work that is both content-centered and concept-driven. My branding and design work ranges from visual identity and branding strategy to video editing, illustration and digital design. My skills in concept development and utilizing my technical Adobe tools enable me to effectively see projects through from research to completion. I draw on my international upbringing and Iranian/American heritage to incorporate diverse lenses through which I construct an engaging design vernacular. My goal is to be fresh yet relatable, challenging yet approachable, and ultimately to be memorable. The work explores a play on emotions and patterns as a powerful means of impacting communication and lasting memories. Aside from my work, I enjoy sports, R&B, Hip-Hop, and thriller films.</image:caption>

<image:title>Adidas Birds - Adidas Birds</image:title>
<image:caption>The design concept for this project is based on merging patterns in nature with corporate iconography, like the Adidas logo. This combination of imaginary creates a sense of power and movement. I chose this image of migrating birds to play on these feelings because Adidas is primarily an outdoors sportswear brand, which the flock of birds subtly reflects in this single image as well. My main goal with this project was to subconsciously project all of these ideas and feelings to the viewer through memorable and graphical imagery. <image:title>Nike LeBron - Nike Lebron</image:title>
<image:caption>The goal for this project was to push the logo’s design capabilities as far as possible. I wanted to create an immersive pattern solely out of the logo that would draw the viewer in. My two main sources of inspiration came from Christian and Muslim symbolism seen in paintings, churches and mosques given my mixed Iranian/American heritage. Conceptually, this is meant to be a piece of retro advertisement for Nike that depicts one of their rising star athletes, a young LeBron James, at the beginning of his career. <image:title>Nike Kobe - Old Kobe</image:title>
<image:caption>I developed this in honor of Kobe after his passing. My goal was to capture his essence at different stages in his career. I achieved this through combining a repeating pattern of Nike swooshes with expressive portraits of Kobe himself. I was experimenting with the level of detail required to recreate someone’s likeness through the use of negative space. My Role: Art Direction, Design, Concept</image:caption>

<image:title>Nike Kobe - Young Kobe</image:title>
<image:caption>Once again, I used the familiar Nike logos and purposely made them small to play with the viewers visual perspective. Depending on the viewers physical distance to the piece the theme of the work changes as a whole. The closer to the piece, the more apparent the swooshes appear and Kobe’s face becomes less clear versus the opposite when viewing it from farther away. <image:title>Green Movement - Green Movement</image:title>
<image:caption>The technique used for this piece was based on what I learned from creating (Old/Young Kobe), but the concept is different. The work relates to the Iranian Green Movement in which peaceful protesters demanding civil liberties were attacked. The repeating pattern is formed from the Farsi word meaning freedom (AZADI). I chose the image of a covered woman for this piece because the Green Movement, which started as a general civil liberties movement quickly became a women’s freedom centric movement. <image:title>Romeo & Juliet - Romeo & Juliet</image:title>
<image:caption>For this project I was tasked with designing two book covers (“Romeo & Juliet” and “Julius Caesar”). The design concept was the reuse of art depicting the characters in new and interesting ways. I wanted to depict the essence of these stories through collaged imagery of older paintings that recreated these same tales of love and loss. William and Morris tapestries served as my main inspiration for this project. My intent for this piece was for the book cover to seem as if it were cut out of a larger tapestry telling the story of Romeo & Juliet. My Role: Art Direction, Design, Concept</image:caption>

<image:title>Julius Caesar - Julius Caesar</image:title>
<image:caption>Similar to “Romeo & Juliet” I wanted to depict the essence of these stories through collaged imagery of older paintings. The imagery on each cover was meant to provide the reader a hint of what type of story they were about to enter. The biggest difference was that I was trying to express a sense of violence, loss and eventual passage to a more peaceful place. This is why the view of the book cover is looking up at the blue sky filled with circling clouds, with Caesar being attacked on the edges of the cover. <image:title>The Face - The Face</image:title>
<image:caption>This graphic was created to be advertisement for a gallery show. The show explored a dependence on technology and the impact it has on humanity. To emphasize this point in an attention-grabbing way, I chose an expressive, ambiguous character with jarring robotic eyes. I used the text detailing the information regarding the gallery location, time of the event and name of the artist as my medium of choice to make out the face of the character. The aim was to attract people who would be interested in this topic by using visually arresting imagery that would stop someone who is walking by due to the abstract and jarring nature of the piece. <image:caption>This was created through an exercise in experimentation. My aim was to create a pattern using an existing logo that gives off a unique sense of luxury that could be applied to anything. I was combining Eastern and Western design elements, once again, to create a new and engaging piece. Elements came from designer brand monogram patterns like Gucci and Louis Vuitton, but I also combined these with detailed pattern work that I had seen in mosques. This marriage of East and West works time and time again and takes me in endless directions. My Role: Art Direction, Design, Concept</image:caption>

This client wanted imagery of a worm to be included in the logo and on T-shirts and other apparel. This logo went through numerous iterations as it was difficult to find a balance between all elements and adopting the right tone. The final product, depicting the worm coming out of a golf ball instead of an apple, presented a comedic twist and the laid-back attitude the client was looking for. After meeting the client the thought was to strip the design down to its’ bare bones and to let the typeface speak for itself. The focus was to determine the appropriate typeface in order to achieve a look that represented high quality and newness. The inspiration came from the clean lines seen in mid-century modern architecture as it is simple and straightforward, yet it represents quality and modernity. <image:caption>A theater company in NYC rebranded themselves and held a competition. The concept was to market themselves as an inclusive community. The design brief emphasized that actors would be joining a community of people who help you and your craft. My goal was to develop something simple, digestible and include the idea of togetherness as the focal point. My focus was on a circular form with no defined beginning or ending. The design concept was based on a metal fence and how the links in a fence work together to hold itself up. This is similar to the sense of community which the theater company emphasized. Hence, my design is depicting abstracted hands holding each other. My Role: Art Direction, Design, Concept</image:caption>

<image:title>The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly</image:title>
<image:caption>This Illustration is meant to be an advertisement in the form of a poster depicting the 1966 spaghetti western film “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”. For this illustration I wanted to challenge myself by revealing a limited amount of Clint Eastwood’s face, but the viewer is still able to recognize his iconic squint. I soon realized the best way to solve this challenge was by framing this piece in the form of a super close-up. The treatment of the text was also very important to me. I wanted the title to be subtle, but noticeable at the same time. In my mind the best way to incorporate the text was to embed it into his sunburnt skin as if it was part of his burn. This makes the image more interesting to look at and gives the viewer a better idea of what to expect in this film. My Role: Design, Concept, Illustration</image:caption>

<image:caption>This was a hand drawn illustration that I had done during my high school years. I was focusing on blending realistic black and white pencil with colorful abstract shapes done with markers. I was inspired a lot by Dali’s style of work and how he was able to create these incredibly colorful and imaginative scenes using a very hyper realistic style of painting. To me mixing these dreamlike visuals and concepts with a very grounded style of work was very eye opening. This is why I created this piece to play on these concepts in my own way and using my own experiences. My role: Design, Concept, Illustration</image:caption>
